Tattoo aftercare with Second Skin
Every tattoo I do in Wrocław goes home under a Second Skin film, and you leave with an aftercare card. This page is that same card, written out. The film stays on for 3–5 days. Then you wash gently, pat dry and put on a thin layer of healing cream twice a day for the first two weeks. Once the skin has settled, SPF 50+ does the rest. Tattoo aftercare for fine-line work isn’t complicated — you just have to do it every day, the same way each time.

Tattoo aftercare, day by day
There are three stages, and you don’t move on until the one before is done. I give you the exact timing for your piece at the end of the session.
Days 1–5 — the film stays on
You leave the session with a Second Skin film over your tattoo. Keep it on for 3–5 days. With the film on you can work out and take a regular shower — but no hot baths, no long hot showers, and don’t let water get under the edges of the film. Second Skin is a healing film, not a bandage you put things on top of — no cream, no ointment, nothing. Your care routine starts the moment it comes off, not before.
After 3–5 days — taking it off
Take the film off in the shower, not on dry skin. Peel it off slowly under warm running water — the warm water softens the adhesive, so the film comes away without tugging at your skin. Wash the tattoo gently with pH-neutral soap and pat it dry with a clean paper towel — pat, never rub, and skip the shared bath towel. Then put on a thin layer of healing cream.
The first two weeks — wash, dry, thin layer
For the rest of those two weeks, do the same three steps at least twice a day: wash with pH-neutral soap, pat dry, thin layer of a specialized tattoo cream or healing cream. Thin really is the point here — don’t pile it on. Clean hands every single time.
What to skip for two weeks
This is the short list I go through with everyone before they leave. Give it two weeks of care — done well and looked after, these tattoos last a lifetime.
- Saunas and steam rooms
- Long hot baths and long hot showers
- Swimming pools
- The sea, lakes and any open water
- Direct sun and tanning beds
- Tight clothes that rub against the fresh tattoo
- Scratching or picking at scabs, however much it itches
- Piling on cream — a thin layer twice a day is all it needs
Which tattoo healing cream to use
Any specialized tattoo cream or healing cream will do the job. These four are the ones printed on my aftercare card — pick one and stick with it for the two weeks.
Bepanthen
A healing cream — the first name on my card. A thin layer on clean, dry skin, at least twice a day.
Hustle Butter
Made specifically for tattoos. One jar is enough for the whole two weeks — you don’t need to switch to anything else.
ProTon
A tattoo care cream. You only start using it once the film is off — nothing goes on top of Second Skin.
Tattoomed
Also made for tattoo care. Whichever one you pick, the rule stays the same — a thin layer on skin you’ve just washed and patted dry.
Then it’s SPF 50+, for good
Once the two weeks are up, the daily routine is done and there’s just one habit left to keep. Use SPF 50+ on the tattoo whenever it’s in the sun: the beach, the mountains, lunch outside in July, the walk to work in summer. The sun is the single biggest reason fine-line work fades early. Tanning beds count too.
SPF is the whole long-term routine. Done well and properly cared for, these tattoos last a lifetime — and a small tube of sunscreen in your bag does most of the work.
The kind of work all this care is for
A few pieces from my portfolio — thin lines and soft shading, the kind of tattoo where careful healing really shows.

Planning your next piece?
Every session is in a calm studio, you leave with an aftercare card, and I check in with you afterwards. Send me your idea, a couple of references, and a rough placement and size on Instagram, WhatsApp, Telegram or by email — or just ask in the chat on this page. I’ll come back with a price range and the next available dates. I tattoo in Wrocław and travel for regular guest spots in Austria and Germany, so the earlier you write, the more choice you have.
